Great British Bake Off is back! The BBC2 show is turning into cult viewing with hosts Mel and Sue on great form, half in awe and half poking gentle fun at the bake-crazy contestants. It’s been kind of difficult to ignore the all-singing all-dancing launch of this year’s Great British Bake Off (then again, who’d want to, it’s brilliant!). The BBC2 show is turning into cult viewing with hosts Mel and Sue on great form, half in awe and half poking gentle fun at the bake-crazy contestants. The broad range of competitors is part of the show’s charm, with this season’s group ranging from 20 year olds to retirees, and including a space satellite engineer, psychologist, school teacher, web designer, dentist and fashion designer. Baking highlights so far have been the incredible cake Showstoppers (check out Howard’s Black Forest Revisited featuring Paul The Bake Off Bear!), Rob’s ‘Paul The Psychic Octopus Tribute Loaf’, Ruby’s White Chocolate and Orange Peacock Bread (amazzzzzing) and Elbowgate, where Sue Perkins managed to lean on Howards’ cupcakes and totally annihilate it. Our favourite contestant so far? Ooh, we’re not sure, it’s too close to call! Make sure you watch it this week and see if you can spot the winner.
